Irene Ang - Celebrity and Entrepreneur

Irene Ang could be hailed as the poster girl for over-achievement. Running four businesses while juggling a successful television career, she is an entrepreneur, entertainer and personality. Irene made her first impression on television audiences as Rosie Phua in Singapore’s most popular sitcom Phua Chu Kang Pte Ltd. She is also the powerhouse behind Singapore’s first and largest artiste management agency, FLY Entertainment Pte Ltd.

Irene received the “Best Comedy Actress Award” at the Asian Television Awards 2002 for her convincing antics as Singapore’s best-loved floozy tai-tai Rosie. Her other TV works include The Donny Lee Show, Love Matters, Moulmein High, Growing Up and Champs. Her credits on the big screen include supporting roles in local films like Coming Home, A Sharp Pencil, Stories About Love and Body Puzzle – a collaboration between Hong Kong and Singapore.

Being fluently bilingual, Irene’s portfolio also includes hosting gigs for several TV programs for Singapore’s Mandarin channel, Channel 8. A true thespian, Irene also branches out to theatre where she was most recently seen in Wild Rice’s musical Beauty World. Her experience on stage has encouraged her to give back to society by motivating others through talks. Her latest venture is co-writing a book titled “The FAQ Book on Public Speaking”. The book is a natural extension, in which she shares her valuable views and opinions on public speaking and being a motivational speaker.

Jeremiah Ang - Assistant Photographer

Since the first time he picked up a camera in film school, photography has been Jeremiah's passion. When he got his first job as a studio assistant, Jeremiah wasted no time in learning the ropes as best as he could from leaders in the industry such as Geoff Ang and Sebastian Tan. While shooting mainly portraiture and fashion, he also takes joy in creating beautiful imagery with everyday objects such as cars and buildings. He describes his role as a photographer as: Being intrigued by the beauty of things around him and being able to capture a moment in time.

Rizal Ahyar - Fashion Choreographer

Guests at Zouk nightclub’s anniversary parties or at the Singapore Fashion Festival shows would have seen this showman in his element. Rizal Ahyar's shows are done with much fanfare and aplomb; you can expect to see acrobats, cheerleaders, marching bands and fashion insiders as catwalk models. It's Cirque du Soleil meets Moulin Rouge with a little Priscilla Queen Of The Desert thrown in. The 22-year show veteran has done many memorable shows, including putting together the first parade to launch Singapore International Shopping Festival in 1990 and a few years later, the Great Singapore Sale. He was also behind The Elite Models Asia Pacific finals in Shanghai last year. He credits his mother for his creative streak, having urged him to take part in school concerts and attend music classes. What he finds most inspiring about fashion is how it is always evolving – sometimes quicker, sometimes slower, but always different.

Invy graduated from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology majoring in Gold and Silversmithing with various distinctions and accolades. Actively participating in fine arts exhibitions in both Melbourne and Singapore, his works drew praise for his critical and forward-thinking interpretation. Not one to rest on his laurels, he yearned to seek a more expansive dimension of creative art. Photography was the natural progression for Invy as he was drawn into the myriad possibilities of visual expression it offers. He put together an imaging and photography portfolio with no formal training. Approaching the creativity of photography with a fine arts discipline, Invy aims to engage and provoke audiences with his work, encouraging them to perceive the surrealism of his pictures. Invy is currently a photographer with The Shooting Gallery Asia.

Sam Ong - Makeup Artist

Sam Ong’s passion is in makeup and the myriad experiences it exposes him to – like travelling to Cape Town to do the makeup for a local brand’s catalogue shoot, or jetting off to Korea to make up a wealthy socialite for a Prada fashion show. He was also one of the makeup artists involved in a makeup challenge as part of an episode for Germany’s Next Top Model, hosted by Heidi Klum, when the show came to shoot in Singapore. When he’s not travelling for his work, Sam can often be found helping create the polished fashion and beauty pages for magazines like Elle and Female. SMM_GJudge_Furqan

Furqan Saini - Fashion Stylist

Constantly bitten by the travel bug, commercial fashion stylist Furqan Saini is rarely in Singapore for more than two months. Lucky enough to be in an industry that gives him the chance to travel (he regularly shuttles between New York City and Singapore), he is always on the lookout for new cultural experiences whether in Milan or Minsk. Having been styling for close to eight years, the always affable, one-time “Stylist of the Year” winner at the Singapore Fashion Awards, used to have a puzzling predilection for the Japanese dance craze Para-Para. He is now addicted to his three gaming consoles, Xbox 360, Wii and PS3, and can be found on either one of them whenever he's back home. On top of traveling and gaming, he also dabbles in DJ-ing, museum hopping, and loves nothing better than to sing along to Rogers and Hammerstein films.

SMM_GJudge_Jinga

Zhang Jing Na - Photographer

In photographer Jingna’s case, the phrase “shooting for the stars” has taken on quite a literal meaning. Born in the suburbs of Beijing to a sporting family, Jingna moved to Singapore at the age of eight. At 14, only nine months after picking up the air rifle for sport shooting, Jingna broke the national record and joined the national team. Two years later, she decided to pursue a degree in fashion design. During that time, she picked up the camera, which became a means by which she could express herself. In order to take her passion for it to the next level, she left fashion school in 2007, and quit the national air rifle team to focus on a different form of shooting – this time as a professional photographer. With just six months in her new vocation, Jingna had worked with prestigious clients Mercedes Benz, Ogilvy & Mather Taiwan, Wacom, The Arts House, and luxury magazines Harper's Bazaar and L'Officiel. In 2007 she became the youngest recipient of Associateship in the Master Photographers Association, and in September 2008, she held her first solo exhibition at The Arts House in Singapore. Jingna has been featured by various publications such as Digital Photo, Vision, Female and Silkwinds. Her work has been described as being ethereal, romantic, and sensuous, with a quiet but definite confidence and maturity belying her age.
